Scrolled and Prompted to Death...
Share
We are all creators by design. It is in our DNA. We have a drive to make stuff. It is without a doubt in you as well.
Take note, I am not saying that we are all artists. I'm saying that we are creators. There are many different ways of creating. Some of us paint, or make things from clay, some of us bake or create delicious meals. It doesn't matter if you make things from wood or metal, or if you create software on your computer, or if you design interiors or arrange flowers into beautiful bouquets, making stuff is part of our being.
But this drive to make stuff has been severely compromised, maybe even totally suppressed, by an urge to scroll and (more recently) to prompt AI to create. The truth is, however fascinating it might be, there is no joy in scrolling or prompting. It is a somewhat mindless activity even if you created a prompt.
No wonder we are struggling with mental health. We are not allowing ourselves to imagine, to dream. We are not satisfying the internal urge to create or feeling the satisfaction of looking at something that we made by ourselves.
Maybe we do not even realize that we miss it, but we do. We miss it a lot. We feel unfulfilled most of the time. And when we do realize that something is missing, we are too busy scrolling and prompting our creative side to death to have the energy to turn things around. We spend so much time on our devices that there is no time left to develop a skill and to use our imagination.
Where will this end...?
Here lies creativity, scrolled and prompted to death... RIP?
