This is the second painting in a set of two painted from a still life I set up in my shadow box. they are available in a set or individually.
One Monday morning I was driving from Vereeniging to Potchefstroom to take my daughter to her home away from home. It was late autumn and Highveld nature was putting on its "ugly" coat for winter. This made it impossible to miss these beautiful yellow flowers adding color to its surroundings.
I marked the location and, on my way back, I stopped to pick a few flowers to set them up in my shadow box. Unfortunately, they withered, and I had to use some wire to get at least one of them to show its glory to my camera. I decided to leave the others with hanging heads, symbolizing the effect of human interference. In the main painting there is one flower just lying on the desk to emphasize how fragile everything is.
To finish the setup for my still life I added a pottery bowl I made from clay I found near our house and placed a candle inside to celebrate how resilient mother nature is. Fragile but resilient.
